Skiathos, the most cosmopolitan island in the Northern Sporades

A paradise on earth, with lush pine forests and crystal-clear azure waters. The most famous is Koukounaries, which is considered as the third most beautiful beach in the Mediterranean.

Add in its bustling nightlife, it is only natural that the island attracts thousands of young and older visitors every year! 

Colourful cultural events, concerts and art exhibitions held throughout the summer months will add a special touch to your holidays on the island!

Is Skiathos worth visiting?

 

Skiathos is an island where, every summer, crowds of tourists fill the hotels and beaches, enjoying their holidays. 

I have traveled through many of ancient European capitals and villages. It was time for something different. With a touring group we visited the island of Skiathos, in the Sporades for a different Greek escape.

CHORA

All signs are edited except the one that says “to the old port (palio limani)” which shows the way to the old port of Skiathos. This shot has a low vantage point for giving the dramatic feeling of entering the picture.

Island Hopping

Tsougrias is the closest island at a mere 400m wide and 1km long, giving all the Robinson Crusoe vibes. In season, there’s a beach club, and the 20-minute boat trips depart frequently from the port.

For a longer trip, sign up for one of the day excursions to nearby Skopelos or Alonissos .

Enjoy cruising over the waters at gentle speeds; reclining on the deck with wine in hand is thrilling, and the swimming stops offer the chance to swim and snorkel in the crystal-clear waters.
